When my father turned 80, I gave him an illustration of our entire family as my birthday gift. We were 15 people at the time, and one cat. I caught myself grinning many times while drawing and couldn't wait to see my fathers face looking for his small self and all the others as well! To my great relief the surprise turned out to be a lot of fun. The entire family as an illustration and kept in a moment - a snapshot that was more than just a picture! And because everybody was so pleased, I decided to offer my services to other families as well.

I have made many more portraits since then and each is different. I first arrange each person as I imagine they would place themselves if I asked for a group shot. Although my style is quite simplified, I spend a lot of time in the details: the shape of the face and body, hair, eyes, overall expression and clothing. I try to find a perfect simplicity but with a twinkling eye.

That way I have drawn individuals, best friends, couples, families with kids, with no and with many pets,
grandparents with their grandchildren, patchwork families and siblings, future husbands and wifes and everything else that is possible and welcome today! I will post some of your portraits from time to time on this site, of course only after asking for your ok
